E Rere Taku Poi!

Knowing that today was going to be cold and wet, we spent more time inside than usual.

First, we did manage to go to our favourite beach tree spot and play for a while, swinging on branches, painting with mud and climbing. It was drizzling but we enjoyed being outside.

We talked about the fabulous day we had last week at Whare Matariki, remembering the songs we learned. (It seems that a few of you were practising them over the week from the video links.)

Time to make our own poi. Creating the cords required team work and the children worked so well together. It was also great to see some of the younger ones determined to give things a go before asking for help. :)

One of the group brought a fabulous story about Tārore for us to read, so I've saved the book I planned to share for another day.

We sang the poi waiata again with our new poi, played some games, then wrote thank you cards for the ladies at Whare Matariki.

The rain may have poured but we had a great day together anyway.
